  • April 12: PSO Spring Concert "Inspired" with Guest Artist, Gillian Derer (flute)After such a long winter, the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra will bring lightness to Peterborough in the April 12th concert, “Inspired.” This concert features a wonderful selection of pieces including:
    • Canadian composer Mozetich’s Postcards from the Sky that will leave you feeling like your floating above the clouds.
    • Canadian composer Buhr’s Akasha/Sky—music that feels expansive while also grounding you.
    • Respighi’s Boticelli Triptych which will leave you feeling like you’ve stepped into a painting and heard it come alive!
    • Stravinsky’s love letter to Italy, Pulcinella Suite. It’s old-school music with a playful, crisp and slightly mischievous twist.

The audience will also be treated to Mozart’s Flute Concerto no. 1 with brilliant up-and-coming virtuoso flutist, Gillian Derer. Under the inspired leadership of Music Director, Michael Newnham, this concert is designed to showcase the musical talents of our guest artist and the soloists from within the orchestra.
