Meet Phoenix!
This week, I’d like to introduce you to a very special cat named Phoenix.
Phoenix is about three years old and came into our care back in January in very poor condition. She had been suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection that had sadly destroyed both of her eyes. At the time, it was believed she had little to no vision.
But here’s the remarkable part—despite everything she had been through, Phoenix greeted everyone she met with purrs, gentle head bumps, and a playful, loving spirit.
There was never a question—we were going to help her.
She was seen by a veterinarian, started on medication to treat her infection, and given pain relief while we prepared for the next steps. Phoenix was placed in a foster home while she awaited surgery.
She underwent her first surgery and recovered incredibly well. Even while healing, she quickly learned how to navigate her space, jump onto the couch, and play with her toys as if nothing could slow her down.
A few weeks later, Phoenix returned for her second surgery. Once again, she showed just how strong and resilient she is. Now, with the pain behind her, she’s finally able to live the comfortable, happy life she deserves.
Phoenix is now completely blind—but cats like her are truly amazing. She uses her whiskers, hearing, and memory to move around with confidence. Once she learns her surroundings, she navigates them like a pro. In fact, we believe she may have been living with little to no vision for quite some time.
She still does everything any other cat can do—she plays, she cuddles, and she brings so much joy to everyone she meets.
Phoenix would do best in a home with companionship. She loves people and may do well with a calm, gentle cat friend. She could also live with cat-friendly dogs and children who understand she just needs a slightly different kind of care.
Right now, Phoenix is in a foster home, but she is more than ready to find her forever family.
