East Central Therapy Dogs
Is your dog friendly? Doesn't jump up? Are you able to commit to a weekly, one-hour visit with your therapy dog to one of our client's sites, local nursing and retirement homes, and hospitals?
October 1 - Information Evening - 7-8 p.m.
October 18 - *Fall Evaluation Testing - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. - For your dog to become a therapy dog.
October 22 - Orientation - 7-8:30 p.m. - Mandatory to attend when your dog passes the evaluation test.

2025 United Way Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Campaign Kick Off
United Way Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Kicks Off 2025-2026 Campaign with Community Event at The Barder Shop
Lindsay, ON – United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County is excited to launch its 2025-2026 Community Campaign with a special evening event on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at The Barder Shop, 5 Cambridge Street South, Lindsay.
The event begins at 5:00 PM and will bring together community members, partners, and supporters to celebrate the impact of United Way’s recent work and unveil goals for the upcoming campaign season.
Tickets are $20 per person (limited availability) and include light refreshments and fresh pizza. A custom United Way-themed Italian soda will also be available for purchase.
The evening will feature the introduction of this year’s Campaign Chair, Barbara Doyle, Managing Director of the Kawartha Lakes Museum and Archives. Barbara brings extensive experience in community engagement and advocacy and will speak on the campaign's focus for the year.
“This event is more than just a launch—it’s a celebration of the incredible work happening in our community,” said Shantal Ingram, Co-Executive Director of United Way HKL. “We’re excited to welcome Barbara Doyle and share our vision for the year ahead.”

Couture for Kids
Five Counties is excited to host its second annual Couture for Kids fashion show fundraiser. The fashion show will feature clothing from local clothing stores, including: Brittany N Bros, Bonita Clothing & Co, Cathy Allan Ladieswear, John G’s, Homethreads Boutique, The Lingerie Loft, Lizzy’s by Cathy Allan, and Nisbett’s Clothiers. Come out for a night filled with fashion, raffles and fun! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from any of the participating stores, online.

Chimo's 50th Anniversary
Chimo Youth & Family Services will be celebrating 50 years of service in the community on October 4, 2025, with a drop-in open house celebration.
